Parent Coaching & Family Education

Susan Shorey is a licensed parent educator with over 12 years of experience coaching families through the joys and challenges of parenting.  She specializes in building relationships with clients while creating dialogue that leads to lasting change in family dynamics.  

Susan has expertise in strengthening the parent/child relationship through the creation of meaningful connection, empathy, and trust.  Her research-driven consultation allows families to more deeply understand child and adolescent development and how it impacts parenting, producing practical solutions.  

Susan has special interest in helping families with challenging behavior, problem solving around parenting concerns (like when to give your child a cell phone and what to do about bullying), and helping children navigate big family transitions.  Believing that parenting never truly ends, Susan supports families with children from birth to adulthood, infusing personal experience and humor along the way.  

She holds a Masters Degree in Family Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Psychology, both from the University of Minnesota.  She holds two teaching licenses from the State of Minnesota in Parent Education (Birth-18)  and Pre-K Education (Birth to Age 8).  Her biggest passion is seeing families grow through challenges, coming out stronger on the other side.  Susan and her husband Shawn make their home in Lakeland, MN and have a blended family with 6 grown sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, and one sweet grandchild.
